Affordable Pet Clinics was created through the work of Five O’Clock Sanctuary, Inc. and Spoil-A-Stray. Over the years, one of the hardest challenges we’ve faced has been finding truly affordable veterinary care for families and individuals who love their pets but are struggling to make ends meet.
We’ve seen firsthand that when people can’t afford vet bills, pets often end up in shelters — not because they aren’t loved, but because help wasn’t within reach. This directory was born out of that reality: to make it easier for anyone, anywhere in Florida, to quickly find low-cost clinics and resources to keep their pets healthy and at home.

Five O’Clock Sanctuary is the nonprofit heart of this mission. We work to support people and their animals in times of crisis, ensuring that pets stay out of shelters and remain in the homes where they belong.
About Spoil-A-Stray
Spoil-A-Stray began with the story of two strays, Brownie and Twix, whose survival and healing inspired a movement of kindness, patience, and second chances. Today, Spoil-A-Stray is our outreach program — helping families care for the pets they’ve rescued, and connecting them with the resources they need to keep those animals safe.
From Our Founder
My name is Barbara “Barbie” Mellinger, and animals have always been at the center of my heart and life’s work.
The journey to Affordable Pet Clinics began with my own dogs, Brownie and Twix — two strays who changed everything for me. Brownie, who survived terrible trauma, and Twix, who brought joy and comfort, inspired me to create Spoil-A-Stray, a program to give rescued animals the chance to be loved and spoiled the way they deserve.
As I walked this path, I saw how many families in crisis were struggling — not because they didn’t love their pets, but because affordable care simply wasn’t available. That’s why I founded Five O’Clock Sanctuary, Inc., and why this directory exists today: to make sure no one has to give up their pet because of cost.
This work is deeply personal to me, and every clinic listed here is part of a promise: to keep pets out of shelters and in the homes where they are loved.
